Mobile multimedia centers impact community development in Kyrgyzstan

On 23-24 May 2013 UNESCO Almaty, in collaboration with the Kloop Media Foundation is conducting a training for trainers on UNESCO resources for the development of community multimedia centers (CMCs) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The training has been organized within the joint European Union - United Nations programme �Operationalizing Good Governance for Social Justice in Kyrgyzstan.�

Less than one thousand days from the 2015 deadline of the Millennium Development Goals, we must do everything to accelerate progress. Culture and cultural diversity are not part of the internationally-recognized development goals � but they are key accelerators for meeting them. In this new age of limits, human ingenuity and innovation is one of our most powerful and renewable energies. This is why cultural diversity is so important � as a wellspring of creativity, dynamism and sustainability. We must recognize, support and share this power, on the basis of human rights and universal values.

Republic of Tajikistan stands at the crossroads of ancient civilizations. For centuries, the phenomenon of intangible cultural heritage was a key factor for transmission of indigenous cultural traditions for future generations as well as a matching point for intercultural dialogue. Indeed, such element of classical music of Central Asia "Shashmaqom" (Uzbekistan/Tajikistan 2003) of the UNESCO�s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity reflects the richness of music traditions.
