MULTY-VECTOR POLICY OF KAZAKHSTAN AND MASS MEDIA
EXTERNAL POLICY OF THE COUNTRY AND PRESS

The shape of the world has changed strongly for the last decade. The Republic of
Kazakhstan, being on the way of transit development, conducts search of its place in a
political, socio economic landscape. The external and internal policy of our country have
conceptually formed for years of independent development
At dawn of formations of the state the President of RК N. А. Nazarbaev emphasised, that
the present realities, geographical situation of Kazakhstan, ethnic structure of its
population dictated necessity of multi-polar orientation to West and East, distant and
near neighbours. Lineage to Turkic-language world, religious community with Islamic
states, historical roots and the psychological features of national character cause
belonging to East. However it would be simplification to consider, that in definition of
our country as the "Eurasian" the part "euro" specifies only to
geographical situation of Kazakhstan. There exist some factors of demographic and
political property, predetermining the importance of European principles in the mentality
of our state.
The beginning of new century has coincided with occurrence of the new tendencies in
external policy of Kazakh - political pragmatism directed on strengthening and development
of bases to independence and sovereignty of our country. The outlines of external policy
have become apparent. The principle of multi-vector diplomacy of Kazakhstan was formulated
which at the present stage is the base of external - policy activity of the country.
Mass media of Kazakhstan pays more attention to such sides of multi-polar policy of our
state, as
- Consistent defending of national interests;
- Ensuring favourable external conditions for continuation economic reforms and
democratic transformations in the country;
- Continuation of lines of constructive interaction and development, equal in rights
partnerships with other states;
- Assistance to consolidation of the international stability and safety.
Democratic bases of forming order in the world.
Priorities of external policy of Kazakhstan, as is known, were formed under influence of
such factors of long-term stability, as a geographical situation and its national
interests. Changes, taking place in the world connecting with development of new
technologies and process of globalisation, occurrence of threats of planetary character,
formation of new economic design, intensification of the international co-operation at a
regional level - all this compels to bring in corrections into external political course
of our state, requires fast and flexible respond, development and realisation of new
approaches to the decision of essential international problems. But at the same time the
base principles of external policy remain constant.
In political sphere the drift to globalisation of the international relations has
designated. The role of mass media and its influence on all parties of life of a society
will considerably increase in the ХХI-th century. Due to its geo-strategic position, in
the nearest historical prospect the occurrence in Kazakhstan trans-national information
channels, newspapers and magazines of the international class is possible which will
dictate the conditions of the game, promote strengthening of trust and mutual
understanding between the peoples.
