Im constantly painting. Its my mode of living. At home I have my own world of books and objects dear to me. My works originate from this world. During a year around 20-30 paintings appear, all of them painted in parallel, but not one by one. All of them are actually the same artwork, just separated into components. Creating for me is a continuous process which is much more important than the result. I never make sketches but always make a drawing on a canvas with a brush, because I start feeling bored if I know everything in advance. Thus, I leave a huge field for improvisation. The most interesting things happen while Im working and Im never sorry when the moment comes to say good-bye to my paintings.

Im learning from the old masters, mainly from the artists of Northern Renaissance. In my paintings I talk. I talk with myself, with various authors I read. With old masters. I like their method, their keenness on the subject (theme). I follow it. The plot is more important for me than painting itself. I dont focus on technique, colors. Im fascinated by immemorial topics that also excited painters 5 centuries ago. But I approach these themes differently. The world has changed.

Im not a national artist in the ethnic sense of the word. I do not belong to any confession. I am free. And I can view the issues the way I like. All my characters are a huge divine theatre. And my painting is my individual way of perceiving (understanding) the world.

Human activity is not that much multifarious. In the course of visible history people fought, constructed, destroyed and constructed again. Emotional sphere is neither abundant in definitions: love and hatred, betrayal and self-sacrifice, greed and generosity, etc.

Art, as I see it, should like a magnifying lens try to understand a human being, see him from within. And try to answer the question: are we divine creatures or just spontaneous combination of atoms? These are eternal questions. They excited philosophers, poets and artists 5 centuries ago and they are still relevant. The blind lead the blind, insane ship is sailing, Apocalypse riders are saddling up while reapers come in the field, Madonna leans over her baby, the Magi hurry up with their gifts led by the Christmas star.
