UNESCO Almaty and NOC RK invite everyone to celebrate the International Olympic Day and to promote key sports values and Olympism.
The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty invite all children and adolescents with special needs and health risks to join the three-day online talks with the Olympic champions. It will help to be even more inspired by amazing stories, to learn more about Olympic values and the power of sports in achieving their plans, as well as get valuable advice and motivation from the best athletes in the country. This will be one of the important initiatives in the framework of the celebration of Olympic Day 2020 in Kazakhstan.
June 17 - Vasiliy Levit, silver medalist of the Olympic boxing games, an experienced member of the national team, will share his Olympic story with children and talk about how important it is to do what you love, no matter what happens to you.
June 18 - The Olympic swimming champion, who created a sensation for his country at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Dmitry Balandin will share with children a story about his way to the championship, about difficulties, which he had to overcome and the immeasurable will to win.
June 19 - The best freestyle acrobatics athlete of Kazakhstan, winner of the World Cup and Universiade, Zhanbota Aldabergenova and champion of the 2016 Paralympic Games in swimming, Zulfiya Gabidullina will tell their success stories and about their childhood dreams.
During conversations with champions, children will have the opportunity to ask their questions , share stories and talk with the best athletes of the country.
This is not the first initiative of the NOC RK and UNESCO Almaty. In this difficult times for all of us, it is very important to promote social cohesion, in particular with young people from the most vulnerable groups, who are in limited access to social services to maintain their mental health and positive emotional state. Today, more than ever, it is important to stick with the main principles of the Olympic values, such as solidarity, respect and friendship. Only together we can overcome the negative consequences of this crisis and promote the power of sports and Olympism in achieving sustainable development.
